  • But proper nesting rules in XHTML place the nested list inside a list item as part of that item, not as a separate part of that list. As a result, the correct listing procedure in XHTML looks like this:

    • Pens
      • Felt tip
      • Highlighter
      • Fountain
    • Envelope
    • Stamp

    Of course, ordered lists (see Figure 7-6 for an example) follow the same practice in XHTML, with nested ordering placed within the list item: Figure 7-6: A nested ordered list created using XHTML.
